Too trusting

I've had a multitude of people tell me that I'm too "closed off." That I'm not forthcoming. That I hold people at arm's length. That I've built a wall around myself. Yes, I have. And recently I let that wall crumble and let a couple of people into my private world of thoughts and feelings and internal "drama." And I've been burned. I can't believe I opened my mouth and trusted people. And I can't believe the people that I entrusted with senstive information would share it so carelessly with others.

The wall is going back up.

I have tried to explain this to people in the past. They don't seem to get that when you've been burned & had your trust broken enough times it's just easier to leave the wall up. The people who *really* deserve to be trusted will find a way in. And I am ok with that being a *very* small number.
